According to the Mehr News Agency reporter, Mohammad Kuhgard, the director general of South Khorasan Customs, announced during a visit by reporters to the Mahirud border on Tuesday noon the significant growth in exports during the first three months of this year and said: The province’s definitive exports have reached $85 million, which compared to the same period last year, has increased by 140% in value and 44% in weight.
He added: Regarding goods under Article 116, exports in this sector were $110 million in the first three months of this year.
The director general of South Khorasan Customs stated: This is while we have also faced the Zionist regime’s aggression, but our border has remained active.
He added: During this period, 424,000 tons of goods were exported from the province’s borders, the majority of which were products from the province’s industrial and mining units.
Kuhgard, while appreciating the efforts of various agencies stationed at the border and their jihadi cooperation, said: In the current difficult conditions, through empathy and interaction between executive agencies, border forces, and border markets, we have managed to create stable and smooth conditions for exports.
The director continued: We are currently connected with Afghanistan through three official crossings, and South Khorasan is recognized as a pioneer in trade with Afghanistan.
Kuhgard said: According to documented reports, the province has accounted for a significant share of exports to this country.
The director general of South Khorasan Customs also pointed to the halt in fuel exports to Afghanistan due to changing conditions in the country and said: Despite the removal of this sector from the export basket, we have still seen a significant increase in exports, which indicates the dynamism of other production and industrial sectors in the province.
Kuhgard further stated: In the first three months of this year, we also witnessed imports worth $3.3 million, mainly related to items needed by the province’s production and mining units, which has shown very good growth.
Regarding border infrastructure, he said: The export and import processes at the borders are being carried out with better speed and order, and all stages are done through the system, with full access provided for monitoring agencies.
He said: The scheduling and control arrangements have also been designed to minimize stops.
In conclusion, Kuhgard also appreciated the positive cooperation and interaction of Afghan traders and said: In the negotiations held with Afghan officials and traders, the development of imports from this country was also emphasized, and the Afghan governor has also followed up on this matter in Tehran.
