Seyed Sajjad Razavi, Deputy Minister of Health, in an interview with Mehr News Agency, in response to some speculations about the importation of second-hand medical equipment into the country, emphasized: There is no program or directive for the importation of repaired or second-hand medical devices and equipment in the Ministry of Health, and such imports are not allowed in any way.
He pointed out that repairing and reusing medical equipment inside the country is different from importing second-hand devices, and said: In some cases, a device in domestic medical centers may experience a technical fault and be reused after repair, but this does not mean the importation of second-hand devices.
Razavi added: In some European countries, when hospitals are closed, intact and standard medical equipment is sold at a reasonable price to other centers or countries instead of being recycled. However, in Iran, even this type of equipment is not allowed to enter unless they meet completely new conditions and have quality permits.
The Deputy Minister of Health concluded: So far, no directive or program has been written in the Ministry of Health for the importation of this type of equipment, and there is no permission to operate such equipment.
