He added: These exports included cement, iron products, tiles and ceramics, and fresh vegetables.
Jalalzadeh continued: During this period, transit of 737,769 tons of goods was also carried out via 30,223 trips, showing a 23 percent growth in the tonnage moved.
He cited oil, spare parts, sugar, herbal medicines, and tires as the main transit goods.
The Director General of South Khorasan Road Maintenance and Transportation, referring to the activity of two branches of an international passenger transport company, stated: During this period, 1,533 passengers were transported by the international transport fleet from the province’s border terminal, with an average daily passenger traffic of about 6 people.
Jalalzadeh added: Furthermore, pedestrian passenger entry traffic from the Mahirud border terminal was 12,753 people, and exit traffic from the terminal was 19,025 people.
He noted: Considering the importance of the province’s border terminals in developing economic relations with Afghanistan, this administration’s efforts, by providing infrastructure at the Mahirud terminals, have been focused on expanding closer economic relations so that we continue to see an increase in goods movement from this border terminal.
