According to Mehr News correspondent, Mehdi Beheshti on Sunday morning in the provincial export development working group stated: South Khorasan’s share in exports this year is 172 million dollars.
He went on to request the import of some agricultural products from Afghanistan as well as the issuance of temporary certificates for Afghan agricultural products and their processing in the Birjand Special Economic Zone and the export of these processed products.
Beheshti further requested that Afghanistan’s advantageous products be included in the preferential tariff list and efforts be made to reopen border markets to specialize their activities and also facilitate visa issuance for reputable traders and the development of South Khorasan’s rail and road lines, especially the transit road Sarbisheh_Mahirood and Mahirood_Farah.
Use of cross-border cultivation in Farah Afghanistan
The head of the Birjand Chamber of Commerce also said: With the use of cross-border cultivation, the province’s corn needs are met.
Alireza Khamazarei mentioned Afghanistan’s mining sector and cross-border cultivation as capacities for establishing a trade balance between Iran and Afghanistan and said: Considering that South Khorasan annually supplies 200 to 250 tons of corn from other parts of the country, with cross-border cultivation in Farah province, we can take the necessary action in this regard.
He stated that the joint exhibition of capabilities and investment of Iran and Afghanistan in South Khorasan will be held with the division of work between the Birjand Chamber of Commerce, the Special Economic Zone, and the South Khorasan Cooperative Chamber, and added: We request cooperation from the state sector of the province to help accommodate the invitees and hold the desired workshops.
