Iran to Certify 20 Agricultural Products for Global Markets

Iran is set to introduce a certification system for 20 of its key agricultural products, making them more attractive to international buyers.

Ebrahim Maleki, an advisor to the head of Iran’s Plant Protection Organization, announced that the country is implementing a new traceability system to ensure the quality and origin of its agricultural exports. This move is in response to growing global demand for transparent and sustainable supply chains.

“The world is now demanding to see the entire production process before allowing products into their markets,” Maleki said. “Countries like India for kiwis, the European Union for pistachios, and China for citrus fruits and apples are insisting on product traceability.”

The Iranian Ministry of Agriculture has already uploaded certification data for 20 greenhouse and orchard products, including cucumbers, tomatoes, bell peppers, eggplants, lettuce, celery, apples, dates, citrus fruits, pistachios, dates, kiwis, pomegranates, grapes, and rice, onto the Samak single-window system.

This new certification system is expected to:

  • Boost Iran’s agricultural exports: By meeting international quality standards, Iranian agricultural products will be more competitive in global markets.
  • Enhance consumer confidence: Traceability will assure buyers of the authenticity and safety of Iranian products.
  • Facilitate market access: The certification system will help Iran comply with the import requirements of major markets.
