TEHRAN – Ali Asghar Abbaszadeh, Director General of Tabriz Customs and Supervisor of East Azerbaijan Customs, announced on Tuesday that 2.584 million tons of goods worth $1.351 billion were exported from the province’s customs offices—including Tabriz, Sahlan, Jolfa, Nordouz, Maragheh, and Bonab—to nearly 100 countries during the first nine months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21–December 21, 2025).

According to Abbaszadeh, Tabriz Customs led the export performance with $780 million worth of goods (984,000 tons), followed by Nordouz Customs with $207 million (982,000 tons), and Sahlan Customs with $165 million (199,000 tons).

The primary export commodities during this period included:

Regarding imports, Abbaszadeh noted that 360,000 tons of goods worth $1.086 billion entered the country through the province’s customs during the same period. The main imported items included machinery and mechanical appliances, vehicles and parts, tobacco, and meat, primarily sourced from Turkey, China, UAE, Germany, Japan, Spain, Brazil, India, Russia, and Italy.

Essential Goods Imports:

A significant highlight was the import of 85,000 tons of essential goods valued at $168 million through the province’s customs this year.

Revenue & Passenger Traffic:

East Azerbaijan’s customs revenue reached 93.99 trillion rials in the nine-month period, marking a 41% increase compared to the same period last year. Additionally, 850,000 passengers received customs services at the province’s border checkpoints, reflecting a 6% rise in passenger traffic.
